Shops Guide
Introduction

The shops system within the Entropia Universe allows you to display and sell any type of item to other colonists on Calypso. Shops include traditional shops, selling booths and portable shopkeepers.

The first and most important item needed to open a shop is the ESTATE DEED for the shop you wish to own. ESTATE DEEDS are the official deeds to houses, apartments, shops and selling booths. ESTATE DEEDS may be bought from the auction or through direct trade with another colonist.

Once the ESTATE DEED has been acquired, the shop needs to be claimed through the ESTATE TERMINAL located outside the shop.

Accessing the ESTATE TERMINAL with the relevant ESTATE DEED inside your INVENTORY will allow the estate to be claimed - just click the CLAIM button in the ESTATE TERMINAL interface.

The estate will now be registered in your avatars name.

Shopkeepers

While traditional shops and selling booths have dedicated display areas, houses and apartments need to be complemented with a shopkeeper NPC (non-participant character) in order for items to be sold there.

The picture on the left shows a shopkeeper NPC. Its owner has dressed it in armor which is for sale through the shopkeeper. Any passer by can just click on the shopkeeper and all the items that are available for sale will be displayed.

NPC shopkeeper pads can be purchased from the auction or through direct trade with other colonists. While hunting in the wilds of Calypso, they may also be looted from a range of different creatures. These shopkeeper pads, once placed and activated (right-click on the pad) allow you to dress the shopkeeper and set prices for different items from your INVENTORY - making them available for sale to other colonists on Calypso.

This is achieved by accessing the shopkeeper (right-click on the shopkeeper), and dragging items from your INVENTORY directly into the shopkeeper panel (displayed on the right). At the same time you will be asked to set the price for the item.

The price is easily set using the increase and decrease arrows associated with every whole and decimal position of the price.

The item will then be displayed to other participants when they access your shopkeeper. Shopkeepers may also be included in traditional shops and selling booths and work in the exact same way as above.

Shops & Selling Booths

The ESTATE TERMINAL displays vital information for the running of your shop or selling booth. Shops and selling booths incorporate an ITEM POINTS factor. Every item has a given number of ITEM POINTS (usually 1 ITEM POINT, but certain items such as mannequins use up to 6 ITEM POINTS).
Each shop and selling booth has limitations on how many ITEM POINTS can be used indoors and how many in the outdoor display areas, thereby limiting the number of items that can be displayed and sold. Please view the ESTATE TERMINAL interface for full details.

Displaying Items & Price Setting

The shelves, floors, walls and outside windows of shops may be used as display areas. Selling booths also have a number of shelves on which items may be displayed. In order to display an item, it must be dragged from your INVENTORY and placed on the display area. At this point, the item is only displayed and not available for sale - the retail price needs to be set.

By right-clicking the item in CURSOR mode (space bar toggles aim/cursor modes) and choosing the INTERACTION option you will find the SET ITEM PRICE function. Set the retail price for the item. Once set and confirmed, the item will be available for sale to other participants. The lowest retail price that may be set for an item is TT+1 (TRADE TERMINAL value + 1PED).

NOTE: If an item, such as a sword, is placed on another item for sale, such as a table, the table cannot be sold until the sword has first been removed or sold.

While viewing items in another participants shop, right-clicking while in CURSOR mode will display the ITEM INFO panel for that item. The condition and TT value will be displayed for the item. If a Retail Price is not displayed, the item is purely for display purposes and not for sale.

Fees

A regular maintenance fee must be paid in order to run your shop or selling booth. This fee will vary depending on where your shop is located.

When selling an item, a landowner fee will also be added to the retail price and paid to the owner of the land where the shop is situated, when the item is sold.

When viewing the ITEM INFO window for any item, the landowner fee is included.
